On March 2015, a new RN orientation program was launched at LAUMC-RH to meet a nursing strategic goal of having a solid orientation program that prepares new nurses to the workplace. The program was coordinated by the Lifelong Education and Development Services (LEaDS) for Nurses. The program took place at LAUMC-RH, Block D, Auditorium D over three days. The new nurses were addressed by experts in the fields of nursing, medicine, pharmacy, and nutrition. The nursing mission, vision, professional practice model, values, goals, scope of practice, code of ethics, quality and safety, nursing resources, and multidisciplinary team were introduced and explored. On the fourth day, the new nurses went to the LAU Clinical Simulation Center to participate in the “Shape Your Skills†day where they had many learning stations to improve their clinical competence.
The new nurses enjoyed the program and found it beneficial and interesting.
