Healing on Wheels: The Story of the LAU Mobile Clinic Across Lebanon

Friday, May 22, 2026

There is a clinic you walk into, and there is a clinic that comes to you.

The LAU Mobile Clinic is exactly that: a healthcare system on wheels, built to reach people where access to care is often the hardest. What began as an urgent response during one of the most challenging global crises has grown into one of Lebanon’s most impactful mobile healthcare initiatives, moving quietly across cities, schools, and communities, carrying care, dignity, and reassurance with it.

It All Began in Crisis

The story starts in 2020, during COVID-19, when access to healthcare became more limited, and vulnerability became more visible.

In response, the LAU Mobile Clinic was launched as an immediate humanitarian solution, designed not just to treat patients, but to reach them through free PCR testing campaigns across Lebanon during a critical time.

What started as emergency outreach quickly revealed something bigger:

Healthcare doesn’t always need walls; it needs movement, flexibility, and presence.

From that moment on, the LAU Mobile Clinic never stopped moving.

What the LAU Mobile Clinic is today

Today, the LAU Mobile Clinic operates as a fully equipped medical unit on wheels, supported by LAU Medical Centers - Rizk Hospital and Saint John’s Hospital.

It travels across Lebanon, reaching communities that face barriers to healthcare access and bringing them services that feel close to a hospital experience, not a reduced version of it.

It is built on one idea: care should not depend on where you live.

Services provided on board

Inside the LAU Mobile Clinic, patients receive a wide range of essential services, including:

  • Medical consultations for adults and children
  • Obstetrics and gynecology consultations
  • Lab Tests
  • Nutrition consultations
  • Mental health support
  • Medication distribution

It is not only about treating illness. It is about catching it early, managing it properly, and sometimes preventing it altogether.
