World No Tobacco Day at the Ministry of Public Health

Sunday, May 31, 2026

The LAU Mobile Clinic proudly participated in the World No Tobacco Day 2026 event organized by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), on the 1st of June, reaffirming its commitment to advancing preventive healthcare and supporting national public health initiatives.

Conducted in collaboration with healthcare teams from LAU Medical Center–Rizk Hospital and Saint John’s Hospital, the mission brought a range of essential screening and preventive healthcare services directly to attendees and Ministry staff. Services included HbA1c testing, glucose level screening, hematocrit and hemoglobin testing, electrocardiograms (ECG), and, for the first time, Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT), highlighting the importance of respiratory health in the context of tobacco prevention and cessation.

During the event, the multidisciplinary team attended to 38 patients and conducted 25 Pulmonary Function Tests, contributing to the early detection of potential health concerns and raising awareness about the long-term effects of tobacco use.

The event was attended by Mr. Fadi Sanan, Director General of the Ministry of Public Health, who presented both LAU Medical Centers Rizk Hospital and Saint John’s Hospital with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their continued contribution to national public health initiatives.

As its 245th mission, the LAU Mobile Clinic’s participation in World No Tobacco Day 2026 reflects its ongoing commitment to bringing accessible healthcare services directly to communities, promoting health awareness, early detection, and preventive care in support of national public health efforts.
