Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Our cardiothoracic surgeons are treating conditions in the heart, lungs, and chest in close collaboration with our cardiologists, pulmonologists and medical oncologists. When appropriate our surgeons apply minimally invasive surgical techniques in cardiac and thoracic surgery.

  • Common cardiac operations include:
    • Open heart surgery to treat abnormal heart valves and blocked coronary arteries that cause heart attacks (myocardial infarctions). This includes:
      • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
      • Heart valve repair or replacement.
      • Ventricular assist devices.
      • Heart transplant
      • Pericardial window
      • Congenital heart disease

  • Our surgeons also perform procedures to correct abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and prevent fatal arrhythmias including Pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs).

  • Our thoracic surgeons are experts in treating benign and malignant disease of the chest cavity including lung cancer surgery, lung nodules, chest wall tumors, blebs, recurrent pneumothorax, thymomas and esophageal cancer. When appropriate, our surgeons apply minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat those disease entities.
