This entails anesthesia provided to patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures in the operating room as well as percutaneous interventions in the interventional neuroradiology (INR) suite. The scope of practice includes providing anesthesia and analgesia for craniotomies done to remove brain tumors, Arteriovenous malformations, clip aneurysms and drain epidural or subdural hematomas, even more intraoperative procedures include simple disk surgeries and kyphoplasties and extend to multilevel extensive spine interventions.
Outside the operating theater, in the INR, anesthesia is provided to a myriad of procedures which include simple diagnostic angiographies, arteriovenous malformation embolizations, brain aneurysms coiling and arterial thrombectomies for patients presenting with acute stroke.
