Ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery

Oculoplastics is an ophthalmic specialty that addresses diseases related to the eyelids and the orbit. An oculoplastic surgeon is trained in both ophthalmology and plastic surgery of the eyes, eyelids, and face. She/he surgeon performs both medical as well as cosmetic procedures to help rejuvenate the face.

What’s the difference between an oculoplastic surgeon and a general plastic surgeon?

There is overlap among what those surgeons do however there are differences that make each one of them unique at certain things. An oculoplastic surgeon specializes in the delicate anatomy of the eye, eye socket, eyelids, brows and forehead, and mid-face. A general plastic surgeon treats conditions of the entire body, including the face.
